If your target is IIM Jammu or IIM Bodh Gaya, JIPMAT is your exam — and it plays by completely different rules from IPMAT Indore or IPMAT Rohtak. What JIPMAT Is (and Isn't)
JIPMAT — the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test — is conducted by NTA and is the gateway to the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya.
One thing to get right from day one: a JIPMAT score works only for these two IIMs. IPMAT Indore feeds IIM Indore, Ranchi, Sirmaur, Amritsar, Sambalpur, Shillong and IIFT Kakinada; IPMAT Rohtak feeds IIM Rohtak only. Note the contrast with IPMAT Indore, which runs three separately-timed 40-minute sections and includes a no-negative-marking short-answer block. JIPMAT is one continuous paper — your time allocation strategy across QA, DILR and VARC is entirely your own call, which is exactly why mock-driven practice matters so much here.
Eligibility: No Age Limit
JIPMAT has no upper age limit. NTA and the two IIMs set eligibility by year of passing and board marks, not by age.

Two details aspirants regularly get wrong: OBC-NCL and EWS candidates need 60%, not 55% — the relaxation applies only to SC, ST, PwD and Transgender candidates. And the year-of-passing windows differ slightly between IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya, and shift each cycle. Selection: No WAT, No PI
This is JIPMAT's biggest strategic difference. There is no Written Ability Test and no Personal Interview. For IIM Jammu, the verified selection formula is:
- JIPMAT score: 70%
- Class 10 marks: 15%
- Class 12 marks: 15%
Your admission is decided by your exam score and your board marks. Nothing else. Two implications, future IIMer: first, your boards genuinely matter — 30% of your composite is locked in before you ever sit the exam. Second, every hour you would have spent on interview prep goes back into mocks and accuracy. JIPMAT rewards pure, disciplined test-taking.
What Real Cutoffs Look Like
IIM Bodh Gaya's final composite admission scores over recent cycles (General category): 335 (2022), 313 (2023), 292 (2024), 333 (2025). These are final composite scores, not raw JIPMAT marks — but they tell you the bar moves around a band rather than climbing forever, and that category-wise gaps are significant (2025: EWS 300, NC-OBC 280, SC 235, ST 190).

What JIPMAT Online Coaching Must Include
Because JIPMAT is a single-sitting, negative-marking, no-interview exam, an online programme is only worth your money if it delivers:
- DILR as a first-class subject. DILR is 33% of JIPMAT and does not exist as a separate section in IPMAT Indore. A programme that recycles pure IPMAT Indore material will leave a third of your paper underprepared.
- Full-length JIPMAT mocks with negative-marking analytics. You need to learn what to skip. Accuracy management under −1 marking is a trained skill, not a personality trait.
